Jordan Solomon
Jordan Solomon
President & CEO

Jordan Solomon has led Ecostrat for nearly three decades, overseeing the firm's Biomass Advisory Group and Biomass Supply Group. His work spans project development, supply chain risk assessment, bio-resource trading, contracting and financing, and risk mitigation for bio-feedstock supply and export.

He led development of the U.S. National Standards for Biomass Supply Chain Risk with Idaho National Laboratory, funded by the U.S. Department of Energy's Bioenergy Technologies Office, then led their adoption in Canada as CSA national standards and their extension into the BDO Zone Standard. Both are now advancing to U.S.–Canada binational status through ASTM and CSA.

Building on that framework, Jordan launched the BDO Zone Initiative, which in three years has issued more than 60 BDO Zone Ratings across North America, linked to over $10 billion in announced plant investment. In 2025, he co-developed Feedstock Supply Insurance (FSI) with New Energy Risk — an instrument that caps delivered feedstock costs for up to 10 years, converting non-investment-grade biomass supply chains into structures lenders can underwrite and financing they can close.

As head of Ecostrat's Advisory Group, he directed development of the Biomass Supply Network©, the largest proprietary wood fiber supply database in North America, and has led bioenergy consulting teams for JP Morgan, Shell, Coca-Cola, Siemens, Enviva, NREL, DTE Energy, Macquarie Bank, TVA, Southern Company, Lafarge, Eastman, and Johnson Controls.

He has overseen supply chains for more than 5 million tons of feedstock, including the first bulk vessel shipments of wood pellets from North America's east coast to Europe (2003), establishment of the U.S.–Turkey export chip market (2004), and shipment by bulk vessel of wood fiber from the U.S. South to Daewoo in South Korea (2014).

Canadian Biomass Magazine named Jordan Champion of the Year in 2026 and Ecostrat Company of the Year in 2024. He also received the 2023 Scaling Up Award for outstanding contribution to the commercialization of industrial biotechnology in Canada.

Our history

From a biomass supply route in Ontario to a global bioeconomy platform.

Ecostrat’s story begins not with a PowerPoint or a venture round, but with deep operational experience in biomass supply, and a conviction that the market needed better intelligence, better standards, and better tools. Every solution we’ve built has come from real problems we encountered by working directly with biomass suppliers, developers, investors, and lenders.

That ground-level experience is what makes our intelligence credible, our ratings trusted, and our supply chains bankable.
