Plumas County, California Issued BDO Zone 'A' Rating for Woody Biomass

– ‘A’ Rating Opens Door for New Biomass Markets and Forest Restoration Investment –

July 21, 2026 – Plumas Corp, Plumas County Fire Safe Council, Ecostrat and the BDO Zone Initiative are pleased to announce the issue of a BDO Zone ‘A’ Rating for Plumas County, California. The BDO Zone is rated for 255,000 bone dry tons per year of low-risk woody biomass and spans a 75-mile drive radius from its central point in Taylorsville, CA.

Plumas County’s ‘A’ rating denotes high prospective viability of Feedstock Supply and Infrastructure and low expectations of default risk in the Zone. Plumas County’s extensive forest resources and ongoing wildfire mitigation efforts have created a significant opportunity to utilize underused pulpwood and forest residues that are often piled, burned, or left onsite following forest management activities. The region benefits from an established logging, grinding, and hauling network capable of supporting large-scale biomass recovery, while current forest restoration and fuel reduction programs continue to generate substantial volumes of available material. Combined with the Crescent Mills Industrial Site’s heavy industrial zoning, direct rail access, on-site PG&E substation with three-phase power, and proximity to major forest feedstock supplies, Plumas County is well positioned to support new biobased manufacturing and forest biomass utilization projects.
