Carbon Markets
Ecostrat Carbon Markets · Carbon reduction

Every low-carbon premium starts with the feedstock.

Biofuels and low-carbon materials earn their value by carbon intensity. Under 45Z alone, a lower score is worth up to $1 per gallon across roughly 25 billion gallons of US biofuel capacity.

That score is only as strong as the feedstock evidence behind it. Fuel programs now demand North American origin, chain of custody, field data, and attestations for every lot, and producers rebuild that evidence supplier by supplier.

We are proving and moving feedstock so every lot ships with its evidence and carbon intensity attached.

See who it’s for

Before your material can earn a low-carbon premium, a producer has a long list to prove. Every ton must be traced to its origin and documented for chain of custody, weights, moisture, carbon content, contaminants, certifications, and legal sourcing.

That work costs you and the producer time and money, and it starts over with every new deal.

FEED does the work once. We package the evidence and analysis with a specific stream of your material, and we calculate that stream’s feedstock carbon intensity in the format each fuel program uses.

Each stream is designated to the one market it fits: biofuels and low-carbon materials, or CDR. Never both.

Sell FEED-designated lots directly to producers or through the FEEDstock Desk, which handles sales and delivery.

Turn a disposal cost into a low-carbon commodity.

For biofuel and low-carbon material producers, waste is only as valuable as the evidence and carbon intensity data that back it. FEED provides both for each stream of your waste, turning your disposal liability into a low-carbon asset.

Allow low-value slash to pay its way out of the woods.

A FEED designation makes your biomass more valuable to biofuel and low-carbon material producers. Invasive species and slash you once paid to burn or haul become a commodity that helps pay for fuel reduction and cleanup.

A low-carbon premium is only as good as the evidence behind it.

For biofuels, every gallon’s credit rests on feedstock origin, chain of custody, attestations, and the carbon intensity of the feedstock itself. For low-carbon steel and cement, biocarbon and biomass fuels must meet tight specifications and show full supply-chain accounting before a buyer pays a premium. Today each producer rebuilds that evidence supplier by supplier, and one weak link can cost a credit or a customer.

FEED assembles each stream’s evidence and calculates its feedstock carbon intensity in the format of each program’s model, ready for your verifier to recompute.

That work turns every stream into a designated commodity, which can be purchased directly from the supplier or through the FEEDstock Desk.

Buying through the FEEDstock Desk gives you a turnkey solution for your supply chain, with feedstock delivered to your site and evidence delivered to your verifier’s desk.

We package feedstock evidence and analysis before the transaction, so your verifiers start with the work already done. You save time and money on every project that uses it, and every project that uses it makes the evidence stronger. Verification bodies, certification schemes, credit traders, buyers and investors can build FEED into their own diligence. We want to work with you. Tell us what would make FEED more useful for you and your process.

Programs set the rules and verifiers make the call. FEED supplies the evidence and analysis for them to recompute.

How FEED stays independent

A FEED designation records that a stream’s evidence and analysis meet the published FEED standard. Programs and their verifiers decide whether that feedstock qualifies.

  • The FEED standard is public.
  • FEED fees are set before any designation and never depend on the outcome.
  • Before FEED issues its designation, the FEEDstock Desk discusses only a price range per ton.
  • FEED-designated lots can be sold to anyone, not just through the FEEDstock Desk.
  • Ecostrat never selects or pays the verifier, and every result can be recomputed.
  • A designation never depends on which market, or which FEEDstock Desk sale, earns Ecostrat more.

Ecostrat knows biomass

Ecostrat has been in the biomass business for 25 years. We’ve built one of the largest biomass supply networks in North America and use it to rate biomass supply sheds. The same data that shows where biomass has a market also shows where it has none. Our Carbon Markets division builds on that foundation for the future of the biomass economy.
