Vegreville BDO Zone Project Featured in Canada Investment Summit Prospectus
– Vegreville's 'A'-rated BDO Zone puts Provectus Biofuels' SAF project in front of the world's largest investors –

September 16, 2026 – Ecostrat Inc. and the BDO Zone Initiative are pleased to recognize the inclusion of Provectus Biofuels’ Vegreville Project in the Government of Canada’s Canada Investment Summit Prospectus. The proposed sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) facility sits within the Vegreville BDO Zone, which holds an investment grade ‘A’ Rating for wheat straw, and shows how a BDO Zone rating can carry a rural bio-based project onto a national investment stage.
Prime Minister Mark Carney is hosting the inaugural summit with CPP Investments and PSP Investments, bringing global investors to Toronto in support of Canada’s goal to catalyse $1 trillion in investment over five years. The summit prospectus presents 167 projects across eight sectors, from energy and critical minerals to digital technology and transportation, and lists the Vegreville Project under Clean Energy.
The facility would convert approximately 300,000 tonnes of agricultural straw into 75 million litres of SAF each year, at an estimated capital cost of US$450 million to US$600 million. The low-risk ‘A’ rating is issued for a surplus of 455,000 bone dry tonnes per year of wheat straw, and signals strong feedstock supply and infrastructure attributes. The rating was a major supporting factor in Provectus’ decision to locate in Vegreville.
Jordan Solomon, Chairman of the BDO Zone Initiative, stated, “The investors in Toronto this week will ask the same question about any biofuel plant: where does the feedstock come from, and will it still be there in year fifteen? Vegreville answered that question before Provectus chose the site. Seeing this project in front of the world’s largest capital providers is the job BDO Zones were built to do, and Canada has room for many more of them.”
Canada now has 19 BDO Zones, part of a network of 73 across North America. In its April 2026 final report, the Canadian Forest Sector Transformation Task Force named the national scale-up of BDO Zone designation as a priority action. CSA Group and ASTM International have also signed a binational agreement to develop Biomass Supply Chain Risk (BSCR) and BDO Zone Assessment standards, giving investors a common benchmark for biomass supply on both sides of the border.

About The BDO Zone Initiative
The Biofuel Development Opportunity (BDO) Zone Initiative certifies ‘regional readiness’ for bio-manufacturing, creates global connections and ignites an influx of new energy opportunities for farmers, economic developers, and rural businesses. A BDO Zone rating is an internationally recognized, standards-based technical risk assessment of a region’s feedstock, supply chain, and infrastructure risk with respect to the development potential for new biofuel plants. BDO Zone ratings are precise targets for bio-project siting. Investment grade ratings are force-multipliers for attracting new manufacturing plants to the areas where they are most likely to succeed, drive investment and create jobs.
