BDO ZoneCONNECT Webinar: Plumas County, California

October 19, 2026 – Ecostrat Inc. and the BDO Zone Initiative hosted the BDO ZoneCONNECT webinar, spotlighting an investment-grade BDO Zone community in California rated ‘A’ for woody biomass: Plumas County.

The webinar was moderated by Ryan Magwood, Head of Business Development for the BDO Zone Initiative, and featured Darrell Webster, BioGeneration and Chipping Program Manager for Plumas Corp./Plumas County Fire Safe Council. The discussion underscored Plumas County’s extensive forest resources and its ongoing wildfire mitigation and fuel reduction efforts, which generate substantial volumes of underused pulpwood and forest residues. Combined with the rail-served Crescent Mills Industrial Site and its on-site PG&E substation with three-phase power, these assets position the BDO Zone as a strong candidate for biobased developers seeking a dependable, long-term supply of woody biomass.

BDO ZoneCONNECT facilitates connections and stimulates development interest within BDO Zone communities. The series serves as a catalyst for networking, introduces new BDO Zone ratings to the market, and engages a diverse global audience of stakeholders, including investors, bio-based project developers, financiers, and community leaders.

Summary of Presenter Remarks

Darrell Webster, BioGeneration and Chipping Program Manager, Plumas Corp./Plumas County Fire Safe Council:

  • “The Plumas County region is a real wood basket, with existing forestry knowledge, transportation access, and communities that are looking for practical bio-based economic development investment solutions.”
  • “A project may look good on paper, but the long-term success depends on whether it can actually operate on the landscape. In Plumas County, we have people and businesses that know how to work in this environment and can do high-quality work.”
  • “The region understands the need for better biomass solutions because we have lived with wildfire risk, forest health challenges, and the lack of markets for low-value wood for decades.”

About The BDO Zone Initiative

The Biofuel Development Opportunity (BDO) Zone Initiative certifies ‘regional readiness’ for bio-manufacturing, creates global connections and ignites an influx of new energy opportunities for farmers, economic developers, and rural businesses. A BDO Zone rating is an internationally recognized, standards-based technical risk assessment of a region’s feedstock, supply chain, and infrastructure risk with respect to the development potential for new biofuel plants. BDO Zone ratings are site location bullseyes for bio-project development. Investment grade ratings are force-multipliers for attracting new manufacturing plants to the areas where they are most likely to succeed, drive investment and create jobs.
